Meet Charlotte – Loyal & Energetic Cattle Dog Mix Looking for a Calmer Home 🐾

Charlotte is a beautiful 7-year-old cattle dog mix in need of a quieter, more structured home.

Charlotte would do best in a home with one or two adults. She tolerates other animals (currently lives with both a dog and cats), but it’s clear she’d prefer to be the only pet. She’s not outwardly aggressive, but she is reactive—especially in overstimulating or chaotic environments. She is a typical Cattle Dog.

She’s incredibly smart and playful, and she loves to run, fetch, and play tug-of-war. As a cattle dog she can be nippy (a herding trait), but she’s never bitten. That said, she’s not a good fit for homes with young children or high activity levels.

Charlotte does have arthritis in her hind knees—her left knee is worse than the right—so while she still enjoys playtime, she’ll need a home that can help her balance activity with rest. She also recently had the tip of her tail amputated due to injury, but it’s healing wonderfully and hasn’t slowed her down.

Charlotte will thrive with someone who has experience herding breeds and who can provide her with a calm, predictable environment where she can feel safe and understood.

Once your application has been received and reviewed, you will be contacted via email or phone by one of our volunteers. After your application is approved, the foster parent for the dog you have selected will contact you to answer any questions you may have and determine if that dog is a good match for your family.

If you have no particular dog in mind, we will be happy to keep your application on file and notify you if the right dog should come into rescue. Catahoula Rescue of New England is an all-volunteer group. Dogs in our program are fostered by volunteers. The foster homes care for our dogs as if they were their own. All dogs have received vaccinations appropriate to age and are spayed or neutered.

Charlotte’s adoption donation is $250 which includes Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella, fecal test, heartworm test, is on preventative, microchip and Spay/Neuter depending on age at time of adoption. If the dog is too young for a spay/neuter, then they will be adopted with a spay/neuter contract and $100 deposit. We do not have a physical shelter; all our dogs are fostered in individual foster homes across the New England and Canada.
