This is Saua (sah-wha) and I am a 2-1/2-year-old Black Mouth Kur. I have a very beautiful Samoan name for an area of the Samoan island of Tau in the south pacific where the sun first rises. I weigh about 50 lbs. and I am a very healthy boy at that! I live in Louisiana with my family and I have 7 dog brothers and 2 cat brothers. I am full of energy and love to play with my toys especially with my siblings.
I love outdoor activities like playing fetch or going for a walk. I also love chasing squirrels but have yet to catch one. I will sit under the tree for hours and hope a squirrel will come down and play with me. I love ear scratches and facial rubs, if you are willing to give them!
My current parent found me when I was roaming the streets when I was very young. I happened to find my way to their doorstep. They tried to find my previous family by knocking on all the doors in the neighborhood, took me to the vet to see if I was microchipped and put up flyers but there was no luck. I have been with them now for 12 months! My current mom explained to me why it is time for me to find another home and it isn’t because of me. It is time for them to take a break and work on their health and for me to grow and learn more! They would love for me to find a new home; one that will love me just as they did! Is that your home?
If you are interested in adopting Saua please email firstname.lastname@example.org and request an application. Once your application has been received and reviewed, you will be contacted via email or phone by one of our volunteers. After your application is approved, the foster parent for the dog you have selected will contact you to answer any questions you may have and determine if that dog is a good match for your family.
If you have no particular dog in mind, we will be happy to keep your application on file and notify you if the right dog should come into rescue. Catahoula Rescue of New England is an all-volunteer group. Dogs in our program are fostered by volunteers. The foster homes care for our dogs as if they were their own. All dogs have received vaccinations appropriate to age and are spayed or neutered.
Saua’s adoption donation is $300 which includes Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella, fecal test, heartworm test when appropriate and is on preventative, microchip, and neuter.
We do not have a physical shelter, all of our dogs are fostered in individual foster homes across the New England and Canada.
