Ryder is a strikingly beautiful boy with a larger than life personality. This happy-go-lucky guy is up for anything. Need a sidekick for your motorcycle sidecar? He’ll look great in goggles. Want a co pilot for your dream road trip? He can’t wait to get his head in the wind. Hiking? Let’s go! Is a kissy-face lovebug what you’re looking for? He’s all that and more. “Yes!” I hear you saying. “Yes, I want a beautiful, kissy-face, Epic Adventure Dog.” Not so fast. Like many young Cattle Dogs, Ryder is mouthy. And when I say mouthy, I mean CATTLEGATOR. Your hands, feet, ears - they are all chew toys as far as Ryder is concerned. Sleeves, pant legs, mittens...it’s all fair game to him. Because of his mouthiness, families with young children will not be considered for Ryder.
Let’s talk about dog friends. Ryder loves meeting new dogs, but the feeling may not be mutual. He is….over exuberant, to say the least. Until he’s had lots of socialization practice, Ryder’s dog friends will have to be extremely confident, tolerant, and fans of rough play. He does not have much of an off-switch when it comes to other dogs, but does rest quietly in his crate when he (or you) needs some down time. Ryder loves toys and has shown no toy or food guarding behavior with his foster siblings.
Ryder has not yet mastered house-training, but he’s working on it and he is a fast learner. He is still a few pounds underweight, which is good news, because he is very food motivated, and you won’t have to count calories while doling out all those training treats. Time and lots of positive training will smooth away Ryder’s rough spots, and polish what he is: an amazing, funny, sunny-natured boy with so much love to give. So….that adventure? He’s ready when you are.
If you are interested in adopting Ryder please email firstname.lastname@example.org and request an application. Once your application has been received and reviewed, you will be contacted via email or phone by one of our volunteers. After your application is approved, the foster parent for the dog you have selected will contact you to answer any questions you may have and determine if that dog is a good match for your family.
If you have no particular dog in mind, we will be happy to keep your application on file and notify you if the right dog should come into rescue. Catahoula Rescue of New England is an all-volunteer group. Dogs in our program are fostered by volunteers. The foster homes care for our dogs as if they were their own. All dogs have received vaccinations appropriate to age and are spayed or neutered.
Ryder’'s adoption donation is $400 which includes Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella, fecal test, heartworm test when appropriate and is on preventative, Spay/Neuter and microchip. We do not have a physical shelter, all of our dogs are fostered in individual foster homes across the New England and Canada
