Roux is a 2 year old Catahoula leopard dog who unfortunately had a rough start to life who’s shadows have followed her. Though her past has been rough for her she still has a lot of love to give. Roux is mostly a one-person dog, when she finds that one person she will devote all her love and energy to this person. With the right situation, and someone with breed experience she may be able to transition to a family, though she will need work and adjustment with this as she can be protective of the one person she becomes attached too.
Roux would be better off without children in her house due to her energy level. Roux gets along and loves to play with other dogs, however she does play rough. Roux also does better with male dogs vs females as she can be dominant and guarding of her belongings towards female dogs. When Roux is happy she will sing to you and let you know just how happy she is.
Though Roux is a very active girl, she equally loves a good snuggle and will melt in your lap. Roux is crate trained, potty trained, and knows her basic obedience including recall. Roux is smart and eager to learn and would exceled in dog sports. Roux would thrive from having a job to exert her energy too. Due to her shadows that follow her, Roux is uncomfortable being cornered in small areas. She does get very fearful in these situations but would rather flight than fight. She would do best with some who would be willing to help her work through her fears.
If you are interested in adopting Roux, visit our website and download the application: http://www.nehoularescue.com/adoption-application.html Once your application has been received and reviewed, you will be contacted via email or phone by one of our volunteers. After your application is approved, the foster parent for the dog you have selected will contact you to answer any questions you may have and determine if that dog is a good match for your family.
If you have no particular dog in mind, we will be happy to keep your application on file and notify you if the right dog should come into rescue. Catahoula Rescue of New England is an all-volunteer group. Dogs in our program are fostered by volunteers. The foster homes care for our dogs as if they were their own. All dogs have received vaccinations appropriate to age and are spayed or neutered.
Roux’s adoption donation is $400 which includes Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella, fecal test, heartworm test when appropriate and is on preventative, microchip, and neuter. We do not have a physical shelter, all of our dogs are fostered in individual foster homes across the New England and Canada.
