Hello, My name is Roofus. I am 3 years old. I was rescued from a ditch where I was abandoned when I was very young. I was only 6 weeks old when I was found, but had been there awhile because my paws and tail were raw from being chewed on by bugs, and I was covered in fleas. Even though my life started out difficult, I was saved and have bounced back!
I love to play, and am the very best cuddlier. I don’t like to share my food or have others around me when I’m eating because I think you’re going to take it from me. I also don’t like shouting because I am defensive of those I love. I am well behaved, house broken, and kennel trained. I don’t like to get in my kennel without a treat, but as soon as you shake a bag of treats, I’ll head straight for my kennel and just need to see you have a treat for me and I’ll happily sit and hold up my paw for you when you say, “sit” and “paw”.
I would love a home that has plenty of space in the yard for me to run around and play fetch with you and get lots of exercise! Like most young dogs I need to learn boundaries and personal space, I sometimes forget how big I am. I LOVE squeaky toys and being busy but I don’t quite have the concept of fetch down just yet.
Being a high energy boy an active family would be ideal for Roofus especially with a fenced yard with plenty of room to run.
If you are interested in adopting Roofus, visit our website and download the application: http://www.nehoularescue.com/adoption-application.html Once your application has been received and reviewed, you will be contacted via email or phone by one of our volunteers. After your application is approved, the foster parent for the dog you have selected will contact you to answer any questions you may have and determine if that dog is a good match for your family.
If you have no particular dog in mind, we will be happy to keep your application on file and notify you if the right dog should come into rescue. Catahoula Rescue of New England is an all-volunteer group. Dogs in our program are fostered by volunteers. The foster homes care for our dogs as if they were their own. All dogs have received vaccinations appropriate to age and are spayed or neutered.
Roofus’ adoption donation is $350 which includes Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella, fecal test, heartworm test when appropriate and is on preventative, microchip, and neuter. We do not have a physical shelter, all of our dogs are fostered in individual foster homes across the New England and Canada.
