Marmalade is a lot of dog in a very small package. She is what is known as a "pocket heeler", because she is so small. She is as large as she is going to get and really resembles a fox!
She is super sweet, yet very complicated. She really takes time to learn her humans and is very picky and wants to make sure that you are going to be kind to her. Unfortunately, this tells us that her past with people has not been kind. She will be skittish at first and then once she see's what you are made of she attaches herself to you and becomes very faithful.
Marmalade has a ton of potential to be an amazing family dog! She wants to love with her whole heart and soul and will do everything in her ability to be there for you! In addition, she is good with other dogs and LOVES children. She does best with ages 8 and up. She also has potential with cats, however you would have to be able to help train her.
Marmalade is not ready made and will need to go to a home with patience, love and a desire to help train and bring her to the next level!
If you are interested in adopting Marmalade please email SLN2310@yahoo.com and request an application. Once your application has been received and reviewed, you will be contacted via email or phone by one of our volunteers. After your application is approved, the foster parent for the dog you have selected will contact you to answer any questions you may have and determine if that dog is a good match for your family.
If you have no particular dog in mind, we will be happy to keep your application on file and notify you if the right dog should come into rescue. Catahoula Rescue of New England is an all-volunteer group. Dogs in our program are fostered by volunteers. The foster homes care for our dogs as if they were their own. All dogs have received vaccinations appropriate to age and are spayed or neutered.
Marmalade's adoption donation is $400 which includes Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella, fecal test, heartworm test when appropriate and is on preventative, microchip, and neuter. We do not have a physical shelter, all of our dogs are fostered in individual foster homes across the New England and Canada
