Maggie is a super smart, beautiful ACD-Hound mix looking for a very quiet home. Her current family and neighborhood have outgrown her comfort zone and are now too chaotic and loud. She needs to live with one adult human in a rural area with a fenced yard. She would love to have as many doggie roommates as possible, but no kids, cats or other small pets. Like a good ACD, Maggie will become your shadow, following you from room to room all day hoping you will give her some "work" to do. She has tons of energy and is eager to follow commands and to play. She knows a mix of about 20 working commands and tricks and is happy to learn more.
Her favorite game is flirt pole (imagine a giant cat toy). Maggie promises that "dog flirt pole" is a safe thing to Google. Maggie will give you as many kisses as you let her and knows to stop when you say "enough". She likes being petted and scratched, but she doesn't snuggle. Maggie is house broken, crate trained, and can be kenneled in an individual run. She is upset by loud noises like thunder and fireworks. Her pet peeves are the vacuum cleaner and mower, so she isn't going to help you with those chores. But she does do dishes and windows. ;)
If you are interested in adopting Maggie, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and request an application. Once your application has been received and reviewed, you will be contacted via email or phone by one of our volunteers. After your application is approved, the foster parent for the dog you have selected will contact you to answer any questions you may have and determine if that dog is a good match for your family.
If you have no particular dog in mind, we will be happy to keep your application on file and notify you if the right dog should come into rescue. Catahoula Rescue of New England is an all-volunteer group. Dogs in our program are fostered by volunteers. The foster homes care for our dogs as if they were their own. All dogs have received vaccinations appropriate to age and are spayed or neutered.
Maggie’s adoption donation is $250 which includes Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella, fecal test, heartworm test when appropriate and is on preventative, microchip, and neuter. We do not have a physical shelter, all of our dogs are fostered in individual foster homes across the New England and Canada.
