This little goober is ready to be your new best friend! Logan is on the smaller side for a Catahoula but he wouldn't believe you if you told him. Logan loves to play fetch and run for hours with his foster siblings and then come inside for a good nap. He would do best with active owners or other dogs that like to play. Logan was afraid of everything (including the hardwood floor) when he first came to us and is still learning how to be a dog among humans.
Right now he has gotten comfortable with us and has blossomed into a very loving and trusting dog. He does still shy away from reaching hands at first, but he wants to trust and is making great progress. He is very submissive and really does just want to be friends with everybody.
Logan is extremely smart and aware of his surroundings, given the right training he would make an excellent service dog or search dog. Logan likes to play rough and has had very little exposure to children, we would suggest he not go to a home with young children. He is potty trained and crate trained, if he is crated while his energy is high he might yell for a few seconds after being kenneled but he will stop and go right to sleep. He enjoys sleeping in his crate at night after getting his fair share of snuggles.
Transition will be difficult for Logan, and we suspect that on the next leg of his journey Logan goes through he might revert back to being somewhat skiddish about humans and human related things (new furniture and appliances noises to get accustomed to). If he does, it would only be temporary as he learns to trust his new humans and environment.
If you are interested in adopting Logan please email SLN2310@yahoo.com and request an application. Once your application has been received and reviewed, you will be contacted via email or phone by one of our volunteers. After your application is approved, the foster parent for the dog you have selected will contact you to answer any questions you may have and determine if that dog is a good match for your family.
If you have no particular dog in mind, we will be happy to keep your application on file and notify you if the right dog should come into rescue. Catahoula Rescue of New England is an all-volunteer group. Dogs in our program are fostered by volunteers. The foster homes care for our dogs as if they were their own. All dogs have received vaccinations appropriate to age and are spayed or neutered.
Logan's adoption donation is $400 which includes Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella, fecal test, heartworm test when appropriate and is on preventative, microchip, and neuter. We do not have a physical shelter, all of our dogs are fostered in individual foster homes across the New England and Canada
