If you are looking for a true cattle dog, then this is the dog for you. Cody is a 3-year-old working dog, he would thrive on a ranch or would do well as an agility dog. He loves to jump for a ball or a Frisbee and could do it for hours on end. Cody has a lot of energy and must have something to do, or he will get bored. He is not meant to be left in the house all day, but he enjoys laying by the fireplace on cold nights.

He is very smart, he is crate trained and when it is time to go to bed- all you have to say is it is time to go to bed and he runs happily to his crate; he does not need to be locked in, he likes it there.

He walks great on a leash, knows heal, sit, place, stay. Cody is very smart, if he looks like he wants something and you ask him what he wants, he will direct you with his eyes - either to a ball, a Frisbee, a tug toy, or a dog treat. He is not cuddly but loves his belly rubs. He will be your best friend. He will sneak on a chair to sit if no one is watching.  Cody is not very fond of children unless they are familiar to him. He is good with letting you know when he does not like something, he will sneer to warn you.

If you are interested in adopting Cody, visit our website and download the application: http://www.nehoularescue.com/adoption-application.html  Once your application has been received and reviewed, you will be contacted via email or phone by one of our volunteers. After your application is approved, the foster parent for the dog you have selected will contact you to answer any questions you may have and determine if that dog is a good match for your family.

If you have no particular dog in mind, we will be happy to keep your application on file and notify you if the right dog should come into rescue. Catahoula Rescue of New England is an all-volunteer group. Dogs in our program are fostered by volunteers. The foster homes care for our dogs as if they were their own. All dogs have received vaccinations appropriate to age and are spayed or neutered.

Cody’s adoption donation is $350 which includes Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella, fecal test, heartworm test, is on preventative, microchip and neuter. We do not have a physical shelter, all of our dogs are fostered in individual foster homes across the New England and Canada.
