Celeste is a very affectionate and fun dog. At about three years old, she still has a lot of puppy in her. She loves lying next to and even on her humans, but also enjoys running around and playing, chewing on toys and bones, and getting people to play with her. She enjoys taking walks on a leash, but as with most Catahoulas, is very interested in lots of smells and tends to pull whoever is holding her leash. She has clearly not had much training and is only now learning to sit on command. She is, however, fully house trained. She is very food-motivated, and smart, and it seems like it wouldn’t take long to train her to basic commands. She has a strong prey drive and is fast, and loves to catch rodents and snakes.
She loves adventures and is happy riding in a car. She can spend hours relaxing, but is also looking for fun times exploring and playing.
She is open to meeting new people and is not shy. She is good with children. She does not do well with other dominant dogs and will apparently try to catch cats too. So she may need a home with no other pets, or submissive dogs.
If you are interested in adopting Celeste please email firstname.lastname@example.org and request an application. Once your application has been received and reviewed, you will be contacted via email or phone by one of our volunteers. After your application is approved, the foster parent for the dog you have selected will contact you to answer any questions you may have and determine if that dog is a good match for your family.
If you have no particular dog in mind, we will be happy to keep your application on file and notify you if the right dog should come into rescue. Catahoula Rescue of New England is an all-volunteer group. Dogs in our program are fostered by volunteers. The foster homes care for our dogs as if they were their own. All dogs have received vaccinations appropriate to age and are spayed or neutered.
Celeste's adoption donation is $400 which includes Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella, fecal test, heartworm test when appropriate and is on preventative, microchip, and neuter. We do not have a physical shelter, all of our dogs are fostered in individual foster homes across the New England and Canada.
